Mrs. Carol Grodjesk Obituary

Carol J. Grodjesk, 76, of North Henderson, died at 6:02 p.m. Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at home.

She was born August 4, 1947, in Pekin, Illinois, the daughter of Eugene and Esther (Canada) Endicott.  She married Kenneth B. Grodjesk on November 30, 1968, in Springfield, Illinois.  He preceded her in death on June 9, 2017, after nearly 49 years of marriage.

She is survived by two sons, Benjamin (Amber) Grodjesk of Kailua Kona, Hawaii and Joseph (Randi) Grodjesk of North Henderson; three grandchildren, Victoria Grodjesk-Morger, Emily Grodjesk, and Jonathan Grodjesk; and a sister, Patty Stein of Pekin.  In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Roberta Boyer.

Carol graduated from Foreman High School in Manito in 1965.  She went on to attend Western Illinois University.  She began her working career at IBM in Peoria.  She later worked for Pekin Public Schools, and Tazewell County School Employees Credit Union.  She retired in 2011 as Distribution Manager for Tara Spa Therapy, Inc. in Monmouth, IL.

Carol was an avid fisherman and often credited her Parkinson’s tremor for her fishing success. She had many fond memories of fishing in Northern Wisconsin and Lake Warren, IL. Carol had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to laugh when either happy or sad.  She enjoyed quilting with her sisters, granddaughters and dear friend Penny Gold. She was also a member of the Alexis I love to Quilt Guild and attended many quilting retreats.  In addition, she was a member of Temple Sholom in Galesburg.

Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Sunday, January 21, 2024, at Temple Sholom.  Funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with Rabbi Jennifer Bunde officiating.  Memorial contributions may be made to Temple Sholom.  Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services of Galesburg is honored to serve the family.  Online condolences and memories may be left on the funeral home’s website at www.h-p-w.com.
