Mrs. Carol K. Ralston, 83, of Galesburg, Illinois died 11:27 a.m. Thursday, May 26, 2022, at the Hawthorne Inn, Galesburg.
She was born February 6, 1939, the daughter of Earl G. and Gladys O. (Upp) Palmer. She married Dale Ralston in 1960 in Lexington, Illinois.
Surviving is her husband of over 61 years, Dale Ralston of Galesburg, a son, James T. (and Deb) Ralston of San Bernardino, California, a daughter, Lori (and Tom) Dowd of Geneva, Illinois, a brother, Joseph (and Mary) Palmer of Le Roy, Illinois, three grandchildren, Jessica Ralston, Nicole Ralston, and Cole (and Tyler) Spinks, and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Russell Palmer, and three sisters, Norma Fern Palmer, Patricia Palmer, and an infant child, Linda Palmer.
Carol graduated from Lexington High School in 1957 and later Illinois State Normal University in 1962. She was a teacher and counselor for Galesburg School District 205. She worked in the Churchill, Lincoln Middle, and Silas Willard Schools for approximately 20 years and retired in 1990. She was a very active member of the First United Methodist Church in Galesburg. She served her church as a member of the choir, member of several boards, and was a member of the Stephen Ministries. She was a member of the P.E.O., a volunteer with Cottage Hospital Gift Shop, and was a Reading Buddy at Cooke School. In her free time, Carol enjoyed traveling with her husband, crocheting, and she especially loved to read. She will be missed by all that knew her.
Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service Galesburg Chapel. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 2, 2022, at the chapel. Rev. Vince Rohn will officiate. Private burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg.
