Mrs. Dorothy G. Armstrong

Mrs. Dorothy Gladys Armstrong, 94, of Galesburg, Illinois passed away on May 16, 2020 at Aperion Care Galesburg North.

She was born October 16, 1925 in Michigan City, Indiana to the late Frank and Victoria Stachelek.

Dorothy is survived by her sister, Josephine Galuski of Cicero, New York, her son David (Patricia) Armstrong of Ocala, Florida, her daughter Gayle (Asghar) Shaikh of Winter Springs, Florida, granddaughters, Shereen (Joel) Levenson and Amber Shaikh, grandsons Jeff Armstrong, Russ Jones, and Joe (Missi) Jones, great-grandma to Felicity and Lyla Levenson, and many nieces and nephews. Dorothy will also be missed by life-long family friends Janet & Jerry Johnston and Wendy & Ray Anderson. She is preceded in death by her husband Richard Armstrong and several sisters, brothers, nieces and nephews.

Dorothy worked for over 15 years for Admiral/Maytag Corporation before retiring. She loved crossword puzzles, reading books, baking desserts and never missed a Jeopardy show. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

The family would like to thank the staff at Aperion Care Galesburg North and Beacon of Hope Hospice for their kindness and care they gave to Dorothy. They also wish to express their appreciation and gratitude to Wendy Anderson for always being there for their loved one. 

As per her wishes, cremation will be accorded and no services are planned. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service Galesburg Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials may be made to Beacon of Hope Hospice.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com
