Mrs. Edith Linner Obituary

Mrs. Edith M. Linner, 89, of Galesburg passed away at 8:23 pm Sunday, January 31, 2021 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.

Edie was born on August 17, 1931, to Wayne and Hazel (Pearson) Murphy in Galesburg. She married Dwayne Dahlstrom, he preceded her in October 13, 1951. She later married Curtis M. Linner on December 31, 1952 in Las Vegas, Nevada, he preceded her in death on April 4, 2019.

Edie is survived by her daughter and best friend, Sandra (and Bill) Anderson of Galesburg; her brother, Marvin Murphy of Mason City, Iowa; two grandsons, Nate (and Jane) Anderson of Morton, Illinois and Nick Anderson of Galesburg and niece, Crystal Murphy Schriber of Mason City, Iowa. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husbands and her sister-in-law, Rosie Murphy.

Edie worked for District 205 as the secretary at Churchill Jr. High school for over 21 years, retiring in 1987. She graduated from Galesburg High School in 1949 and attended Browns Business School. Edie was a member of First Lutheran Church. She enjoyed bowling and had bowled on several bowling leagues. Edie’s favorite pastime was spending time with her family, especially her grandsons, Nate and Nick.

Edie’s wishes were to be cremated with a Memorial Service at a later date when all can gather. Burial will be Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church or FISH.
