Mrs. Elaine A. (Albers) Maifeld

Mrs. Elaine A. Maifeld, 71, of Galesburg, Illinois died 5:00 a.m. Sunday, June 6, 2021 at the OSF Richard L Owens Hospice Home, Peoria, Illinois.

She was born January 13, 1950 in Aplington, Iowa to Fritz and Alice (Franken) Albers.  She married Russell D. Maifeld, June 16, 1968 at the East Friesland Presbyterian Church in Ackley, Iowa.  He survives. 

Also surviving is a son, Randal (and Joy) Maifeld of Pella, Iowa, a daughter, Renee (and Joe) Tiehen of Brownsburg, Indiana, a brother, Robert (and Jeanine) Albers of Georgetown, Texas, two sisters-in-law, Sue Albers of Wellsburg, Iowa and Connie Albers of Wichita, Kansas and four grandchildren, Cole Maifeld, Ben Maifeld, Kathy Tiehen, and Dani Tiehen.  She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Alfred Albers and Donald Albers. 

Elaine graduated from Wellsburg High School in 1968.  She was a secretary for the Winnebago Industries for four years and then a secretary for Dr. Robert Wilson for three years.  She was a secretary for the First Presbyterian Church in Creston, Iowa for ten years.  After moving to Galesburg in 1992, she worked as a receptionist for Heat and Control Industries in Galesburg and later a secretary for the Christian Disciple of Christ Church in Knoxville for three years.  She was a member and Deacon of the Christian Disciple of Christ Church.  Elaine was very active in the church where she occasionally played piano and the organ, and was a member of the choir.  She was a Preceptor Laureate and Life Member of the Mu Tau Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.  She enjoyed sewing, cross stitching, quilting and crocheting.  She also enjoyed traveling with her husband to Texas, Florida, Hawaii and Australia.  Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren. 

Visitation will be 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, June 11, 2021 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service Galesburg Chapel.  Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 12, 2021 at the Christian Disciple of Christ Church in Knoxville.  A committal service will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday at the East Friesland Presbyterian Cemetery in Ackley, Iowa.  Memorials may be made to Christian Disciple of Christ Church in Knoxville or to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
