Mrs. Ella Lucille Parr Yeast, 102, of Galesburg, Illinois died 4:45 p.m. Monday, November 15, 2022, at ProMedica Health Care Center, Galesburg.
She was born September 13, 1920, in Ellisville, Illinois to Glen Amos and Retah Margaret (Voorhees) Wilmot. She married Raymond L. Parr in January of 1943 in Kahoka, Missouri. He preceded her in death September 22, 1988. She later married Marion Yeast.
Surviving is her son, Chester Roate, Jr. of Galesburg, two daughters, Beverly Jean (and Joseph) Fields of Bentonville, Arkansas, and Annette M Stegall of Galesburg, Illinois, 11 grandchildren and step grandchildren, and several great and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two daughters, Donna Kay Tanzillo and Patricia A. Parr, a son-in-law, Roger Stegall, two brothers, Dale Wilmot and Donald Libby, and eight sisters, Glenna Motz, Edith Sells, Maxine Cannon, Leta Peterson, Francis Hale, Isabelle Wenzel, Rachel Bivens, and Alice Dickerson.
Lucille worked several jobs in the area including owner-operator of the Ellisville Garage from 1954 to 1972. She was also housekeeping supervisor for Sunset Nursing Home in Canton, Illinois for ten years and Marigold Nursing Home in Galesburg for three years. Most importantly she was a homemaker for her family. Lucille volunteered at the Galesburg Cottage Corner, Cottage Hospital, and the V.N.A. community service in Galesburg. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Galesburg. She was a member of the Women of the Moose, Chapter #115, Older American of Knox, and over a 50-year member of the Rebecca Lodge in Ellisville. She enjoyed taking walks, watching television, and quilting. When Lucille was younger, she and her husband, Raymond, enjoyed riding motorcycles.
Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 19, 2022, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service Galesburg Chapel. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the chapel. Rev. Vince Rohn will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Fairview, Illinois. Memorials may be made to ProMedica Activity Fund.
