Mrs. Ethel Carlson Obituary


Mrs. Ethel Lee Carlson, 90, of Galesburg, Illinois died at 12:09 a.m. Friday, October 25, 2024, at the Allure of Knox County in Galesburg.

She was born on October 15, 1934, in Aledo, Illinois to Donnie and Hazel Maxine (Greer) Heck. She married Raymond A. Carlson on February 26, 1955, in Lawton, Oklahoma.

Surviving is her son Ron Carlson of Galesburg, a daughter, Joyce (and Ken) White of Mariemont, Ohio, and a sister, Janet (and Eddie) Radar of Madison, Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Rex Carlson, two brothers, Kenny Heck and Spike Heck, and two sisters, Fay Gustafson and Donna Beede.

Ethel graduated from Aledo High School in 1953. She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Galesburg. She was a homemaker and worked on the family farm with chores including milking the cows. She also worked at the Woodhull Plaza, was a greeter at K-Mart, and assisted the residents at the Marigold Nursing Home. When she was younger, she was a member of 4-H and showed champion Black Angus Cattle. At the age of eleven, she started collecting porcelain shoes and the collection grew to over four thousand. Ethel had a big heart and loved everybody she knew. She will be missed.

Cremation will be accorded. No services are planned. Cremation burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Galesburg. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service Galesburg Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
