Mrs. Gloria Pyle Obituary

Mrs. Gloria J. Pyle, 93, of Galesburg, Illinois passed away peacefully at 5:43 a.m. Thursday, December 24, 2020 at the home of her daughter’s, surrounded by her daughters and a son-in-law. 

She was born February 4, 1927 in Galesburg the daughter of Benjamin and Luella (Fisher) Hudson.  She married Harry Aldus December 23, 1945 in Galesburg.  She later married Richard “Dean” Pyle February 7, 1958 in Rockford, Illinois.  He preceded her in death, October 26, 1997. 

She is survived by two daughters, Myra (Aldus) (and Ken) Boydstun of Galesburg and Deena (Pyle) (and Rick) Jackson of Knoxville, Illinois, a daughter-in-law, Linda Pyle of Galesburg, nine grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 15 great-great grandchildren, several cousins, and her beloved dog, “Chicka”.  She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Thomas Pyle, a grandson, Dalton and a great grandson, Nathan. 

Gloria graduated from Galesburg High School in 1944.  From 1944 to 1945 she worked in the office of Mayo Hospital in Galesburg.  She was a waitress at the Galesburg Club and Cities Service Luncheonette where she met and later married Richard “Dean” Pyle.  After their marriage she was a homemaker.  She was a member of the Women of the Moose in Galesburg and Central Congregational Church.  She loved cooking and crossword puzzles. She and her husband, Dean were avid bowlers, golfers and loved dancing.  The golf course was her happy place, but nothing made her happier than spending time with her family.  She left a heart broken family here on earth, but heaven gained a precious new angel. 

Cremation will be accorded.  Due to restrictions associated with COVID-19 there will be no service at this time.  A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date when larger gatherings are safe.  Cremation burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg.  Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service Galesburg Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
