Mrs. Gloria M. (Lamb) Riggs

Mrs. Gloria M. Riggs, 82, of Abingdon, Illinois, passed away at 11:48 am, Thursday, December 25, 2025, at her home surrounded by her family.

Gloria was born on June 5, 1943, in Galesburg, the daughter of Charles D. and Beulah F. (Hutchings) Lamb. She married Donald Lee Riggs on March 16, 1974 in East Galesburg. After 24 years of marriage, he preceded her in death on December 10, 1997.

She is survived by her two daughters, Shirley Kruger of Galesburg and Tina Claeys of Abingdon, two step daughters, Becky (Marvin) Wendel of Arkansas and Terri (Denny) Allen of Knoxville, 16 grandchildren, a special great grandson, Bentley K. Riggs, and a special niece, Linda Fickling of Galesburg. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Bernadine Curtis, and Wilma Curtis, a brother, Robert “Bob” Reynolds, two grandchildren, Christina M. Riggs, and Michael L. Riggs.

Gloria was a caring wife, mother, and a hard-working woman. She worked as a maid for many motels in the area and as a CNA at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Knoxville before its closing. She loved fishing, stock car races, and riding motorcycles with her husband. She also enjoyed watching wrestling.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel. Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. prior to service at the chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com
