Mrs. Grace Elizabeth (Hardee) Harris

Mrs. Grace Elizabeth Harris, 79, of Galesburg, Illinois passed away at OSF Little Company of Mary Medical Center in Evergreen Park, Illinois, at 6:36 p.m. Saturday, March 20, 2021.

She was born on April 6, 1941, in Chicago, Illinois the daughter of Reese and Elizabeth (McGrew) Hardee. Grace first married Robert Hawkins July of 1961, they divorced and he later passed away. She married Kenneth Harris on January 10, 1981 in Chicago. He preceded her in death on May 14, 2017.

Surviving is her three sons: Robert (and Cherie) Hawkins of Chicago, Dana (and Erika) Hawkins of Decatur, Illinois, and Michael (and Leticia) Hawkins of Galesburg; her daughter, Valarya (and Galen) Richmond of Chicago; her sister Ann Louise Terry of Chicago; her mother-in-law, Edna Harris of Galesburg; three sisters-in-law, Estelle Hardiman, Stella Harris both of Chicago and Gail Harris of Galesburg, Brother-in-law, Allen Harris of Chicago a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and both her husbands.

Grace graduated high school and went on to work in an office setting as a temp, as well as taking on another job housecleaning. During her free time, Grace enjoyed spending it by going to the casinos and shopping at Walmart. Grace was known for making a “mean” pot of greens.

Visitation will be from Noon-1:00 pm Saturday April 3, 2021 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Home and Cremation Service Galesburg Chapel. A Memorial Service will follow at 1:00 pm, Saturday April 3, 2021 at the chapel with Chaplain Jordan Knight officiating.
