Janet L. Folger, 67, of Galesburg, died at 12:06 p.m. Friday, July 20, 2018 in OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
She was born December 19, 1950, in Galesburg, the daughter of John and Ruby (Keith) Kelley. She married John R. Folger on August 1, 1969, in Cameron.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 49 years, John; a daughter, Kellie (Jonathan) Hootman of Alexis; two grandchildren, Makaila and Mason Hootman; a sister, Gloria (Larry) Corbin of Cameron; a sister-in-law, Nancy Steepleton of Abingdon; and a niece, Lori (Mitch) Davis of Abingdon. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Joyce Shaw.
Janet had a series of jobs over the years that always led her to her next place of employment. These included, Sears, NAEIR, Dick Blick, Univet, and NoName Inc. In 2000, she started and built her own successful business, CJ Distribution, a supplier of construction materials. She was still currently operating this business with her daughter, Kellie.
After graduating from Galesburg High School in 1969, she went on to attend classes at Brown’s Specialty and Carl Sandburg College. She was of Christian faith. Janet enjoyed cooking, sewing, and gardening. She was a 4-H leader for many years and also a room mother.
Cremation will be accorded. To celebrate her life, the family is hosting a time of fellowship and remembrance from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 28, 2018 at the Alexis Community Center on Palmer St. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family.
