Mrs. Janet Oldham Obituary

Janet Larner Oldham, formerly of Galesburg, passed away Thursday, May 20, 2021 at Parkway Manor in Marion.

Janet was born in Macomb on October 28, 1934 to Francis and Glenrose Larner.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 53 years, Gary Oldham; their son, Todd in 2006; and her sister, Carol Larner Anders in 2008.  She is survived by one sister, Jeane Deacon and brother-in-law, Clarke of Marion; nephews, Jeff Deacon and James Heine; nieces, Angela Simich and Chrisina Myers; a sister-in-law, Mavis Harmon of Galesburg; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Janet was raised in Macomb, attended Western Lab School, and graduated from Western High School in 1953.

Janet and Gary were married in June of 1953 and moved to Galesburg in 1956, living there for 34 years.  In 1967, they adopted a son, Todd.  While in Galesburg, she worked at State Loan for 10 years.  She was also active in many women’s clubs and volunteered at Cottage Hospital.  She loved playing Canasta and was also on a bowling league for many years.

They moved back to Macomb in 1991, where they resided with her mother until her death in 1996.  She was a lifetime member of First Christian Church of Macomb.  She moved to Marion in 2010 and resided there until her death.

There will be no services.  Per her wishes, she will be cremated and buried alongside her husband and son in Macomb at a later date.
