Mrs. Jayne I. (Ray) Jones

Mrs. Jayne I. Jones, 77, of Abingdon, Illinois died at 5:45 a.m. Sunday, October 12, 2025, at St. Anthony Medical Center, Rockford, Illinois.

She was born April 15, 1948, in Galesburg, Illinois, the daughter of Warren and Helen M. (McKinley) Ray. She married Michael Jones on June 29, 1968, in Abingdon. He preceded her in death on June 27, 2008.

Surviving are two sons, Kevin (and Shelby) Jones of Abingdon and Kent (and Leslie) Jones of Abingdon, a daughter, Kari Jones of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, a sister, Judy Skinner of Abingdon, eight grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a great grandchild, Jaxson Fortune.

Jayne graduated from Abingdon High School in 1966. She was a pharmacy technician for Burgland Pharmacy, the Cottage Hospital Pharmacy, and HyVee Pharmacy for several years. She was a member of the Abingdon Pottery Club. She collected all kinds of pottery, especially the pieces from the Abingdon Pottery. Jayne was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. She enjoyed attending Abingdon/Avon sporting events, but mostly watching her children and grandchildren play. In her free time, she could be found at the casino.

Cremation will be accorded. A memorial visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service Abingdon Chapel. A graveside service will follow at 11:30 a.m. at Abingdon Cemetery. Her daughter-in-law, Leslie Jones will officiate. Memorials may be made to the Abingdon/Avon Athletic Department.
