Mrs. Jean M. Sparling

Mrs. Jean M. Sparling, 87, of Galesburg, died 4:53 a.m. Friday, April 22, 2022, at Seminary Manor, Galesburg, Illinois.

She was born November 30, 1934 in Galesburg, the daughter of Joseph and Doris (May) Foster. She graduated from Galesburg High School. She married Donald Sparling on December 16, 1951 in Galesburg. He preceded her in death on February 27, 1984.

She is survived by a son, Dana Sparling of Texas, a daughter, Dawn (John) Horaney of Galesburg, three granddaughters, one being: Amy (and Joseph) Blanchard of Mascoutah, Illinois, and one step grand-daughter. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Jean greatly enjoyed traveling and had been all over the country and world. She also enjoyed jewelry making and was a lifelong seamstress, making clothes throughout her life. Jean was a founding member of the Order of Rainbow for Girls in Galesburg and was also very active within the Order of the Eastern Star and the Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem.

Visitation will be 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel. A Funeral Service will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 28, 2022 at the Chapel. Memorial may be made to the family.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com
