Mrs. Joanne B. (Fish) Pease

Mrs. Joanne B. Pease, 77, of Knoxville, Illinois died at 9:09 p.m. Sunday, September 8, 2024, at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg, Illinois.

She was born February 2, 1947, in Fort Madison, Iowa to Vernon and Eunice (Hamilton) Fish. She married Vinton E. Pease on February 24, 1968, in Fort Madison. He preceded her in death on February 24, 2020.

Surviving are her daughters, Missy (and Adam) Powell of East Galesburg, Illinois and Ali (and Eric) Strom of Knoxville, a brother, Roger (and Marsha) Fish of Washington, and she was an amazing Meme to five grandchildren, Maddy (and Nick) Putnam, Cassie (and Kellen McClay) Grady, Haley (and William Hutchison) Strom, Hunter (and Sidney Regan) Strom, and Hudson (and Alyson Daugherty) Strom. In addition to her husband, Vinton, she was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Kay Belt.

Joanne graduated from Fort Madison High School in 1965. She continued her education and received her master’s degree from Northeast Missouri State (now Truman State University) in Kirksville, Missouri. In college is where she met the love of her life, Vinton Pease, and they shared 52 years of marriage. She was a teacher and principal in the ROWVA school district for 35 years and retired in 2004. She was a member of the Oaks Community Church in Dahinda, Illinois, Oak Run sewing group, and the “Friday Coffee Ladies”. She loved spending time with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren.

As Joanne requested, cremation will be accorded. A celebration of life will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Saturday, September 21, 2024, at the Oaks Community Church with a sharing of memories at 5:30 p.m. lead by Pastor Marty Briney. Memorials may be made to Oaks Community Church or ROWVA Elementary School.
