Mrs. Joyce F. Nelson

Mrs. Joyce F. Nelson, 64, of Galesburg, Illinois, peacefully died on November 22, 2021, at OSF St. Mary’s Medical Center in Galesburg.

She was born on August 21, 1957, in Ironton, Ohio, as the daughter of Earl and Ardella Melton. Along the way, she married the love of her life, Steve Nelson in 1976.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Steve, and their son, Rob (Tina) Nelson, her two grandchildren, whom she loved very much, Ember and Darren, of Columbus, Ohio, and one sister Violet, of Tennessee. She is preceded in death by both parents, her sister, Joanne, and two brothers, Ed, and Robert.

Joyce graduated from Galesburg High School and went on to becoming a loving mother, as her son was the light of her life, and a resolute homemaker. She babysat her nieces and nephew during their childhood and enthusiastically followed their sports and activities. Joyce will be dearly missed by her devoted husband and all who knew her.

A Private Committal Service will be held on Monday, November 29, 2021, at East Linwood Cemetery in Galesburg. Memorial contributions in Joyce’s memory may be made to the donor’s choice.
