Mrs. Judith N. Matejewski Obituary

Mrs. Judith N. Matejewski, 79, of Galesburg, Illinois, passed away on January 9, 2022, in Peoria, Illinois.

Judith was born on March 16, 1942, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the daughter of Kenneth and Evelyn Hulsizer.

In addition to many beloved friends, Judith is survived by her husband, Mike, whom she married on January 15, 1997, her daughter, Sherri Bornsen, of Galesburg, four grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents.

She worked as a cook in many restaurants over the years, some including Don’s Family Restaurant, George’s Restaurant, in Knoxville, Illinois, Margi’s Restaurant and St. Mary’s Square. She even went to cook on the towboats and enjoyed telling stories of all her adventures to her friends. She later became a Galesburg CUSD205 Crossing Guard and a School Lunch Monitor. Judie was even your everyday Avon lady. In 2011, she and her husband, Mike, created and bottled their own BBQ sauce named, “Mates BBQ Sauce”. Together they sold it locally.
