She was born November 5, 1934, in Monmouth, IL to Henry and Fay (Fisher) Hanson.  She married Chuck Orwig on September 12, 1953, in Biloxi, MS.

Surviving is her husband of almost 70 years, Chuck Orwig of Kewanee, two daughters, Caron (and Richard) Walter of Laura, IL and Cheryl (and Jeff Butts) Orwig of El Prado, NM, three sons, Chuck “Chic” III (and Natosha) Orwig of Albuquerque, NM, Chris (and Stephanie) Orwig of Leawood, KS, and foster-son Richard (and Debbie) Thompson of Columbus, NC, a brother, Richard (and Mary) Hanson of Bettendorf, IA, nine grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Jennie Caldwell and Louise Law, and two brothers, Henry “Bud” Hanson and Art Hanson.

Jeanne graduated from Monmouth High School in 1952.  She was a dedicated housewife and mother.  She also worked for the State of Illinois for eleven years and was an assistant and auditor for a local Chiropractor.  She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Kewanee and was involved with the Kewanee Church Fellowship.  She was a Tupperware Manager and an active member of the Business and Professional Women for many years.  She was a member of the Genealogy Societies and enjoyed doing family research.  Jeanne was very talented and creative.  She was always sewing, especially Raggedy Ann and Andy Dolls, both small and large.  She enjoyed embroidering, painting, and sketching, especially using watercolors.  She and her husband volunteered for several area hospitals, nursing homes, and churches by dressing up as Raggedy Ann and Andy and performing musical skits.  She loved spending time with her family and traveling with her husband, Chuck.  She will be missed by all who knew her.

Granting her wishes, Jeanne will be cremated.  A Celebration of Life service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 9, 2023, at the First Presbyterian Church in Kewanee.  Chaplain Zachary Hunter will officiate.  In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to the Hillcrest Nursing Home, Geneseo.  Her final resting will be in the Monmouth Cemetery at a later date.  Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service Galesburg Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
