Loretta was born February 10, 1930, in Woodhull, Illinois, the daughter of Harry and Waneta (Jordan) Boyd. She married the love of her life, Joseph Earl Boyd, on her birthday in 1948. Together, Loretta and Earl shared a beautiful journey through life for 69 wonderful years until Earl preceded her in death on March 11, 2017.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Delbert Jordan; and her sister, Dorothy Jordan Nelson.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, Daniel E. Boyd and his wife, Linda, of Winter Garden, Florida; a niece, Starr Stickle, two step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
Loretta moved to Galesburg with her parents at the age of three and remained deeply rooted in the community she loved. She attended Galesburg schools and graduated from Galesburg High School in 1947. Loretta was devoted to her family and found great joy in life’s simple blessings. She especially treasured the many adventures she shared traveling alongside Earl through 48 states and across Canada and Mexico, creating memories that would last a lifetime.
Loretta will be remembered for her gentle spirit, loving heart, and the deep devotion she showed to those she loved throughout her long and meaningful life.
A Graveside Service will be held Wednesday, May 27, at 11:00 a.m. at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, where Loretta will be laid to rest beside her beloved Earl.
