Mrs. Lucy P. Johnson, 92, of Abingdon, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 22, 2026, at home with her family by her side.
She was born October 10, 1933, in Gladstone, Illinois, the daughter of Harry and Lillie (Schultz) Brentise. She married Thomas D. Johnson Sr. on November 4, 1950, in Monmouth, Illinois, and he preceded her in death on February 23, 1985.
She is survived by sons, Michael (and Patti) Johnson Sr. of Abingdon; James (and Vicky) Johnson Sr. of Abingdon; Craig (and Kathy) Johnson of Alexis; Harry (and Skye) Johnson of Wisconsin; daughters, Virginia (and John) O’Reilly of Abingdon; PJ Skinner of Dunlap; Christina (and Todd) O’Halleran of Tennessee; brothers, Eddie (and Dee) Brentise of Monmouth; Charles Brentise of Monmouth; sister, Sara Brentise of Monmouth; many grand-children, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Thomas Johnson and a daughter, Patricia Harlan.
Lucy spent her full life in the Abingdon area. Lucy worked as a seamstress for Smolers Textile in Monmouth and as a staff worker at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Knoxville. She enjoyed quilting and sewing and spending time with family and friends. In her earlier years, she was a member of Berwick Baptist Church.
A visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Friday, May 29, 2026, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Home and Cremation Services Abingdon Chapel. A Funeral Service will follow at 12:00 p.m. with Chaplain Jordan Knight officiating. Burial will be in Abingdon Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
