Mrs. Lucy A. (Mejia) Nache

April 22, 1931 ~ April 13, 2022 (age 90)

Obituary

Mrs. Lucy A. Nache, 90, of Galesburg, Illinois, passed away at 9:44 p.m. on Wednesday, April 13, 2022. Lucy was surrounded by her loving family as she departed this earthly life to join our heavenly father for her eternal rest.

Lucy was born on April 22, 1931, in Galesburg to Jose and Luciana (Alvarez) Mejia. She graduated from Galesburg High School in 1949.

On October 29, 1955, at Corpus Christi Church in Galesburg, Lucy married the man who would be the greatest love of her life, Jess R. Nache. Lucy devoted herself fully to her role as a mother. She understood the importance of providing her children with love, support, and guidance throughout their life. Lucy was proud to see the children that she loved so much grow into beautiful people, as well as wonderful parents and grandparents. Over almost 54 years of marriage, Lucy and Jess were united to provide the most loving and caring home for their family. Their dedication to family can be seen in the loving eyes of their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Together, they made a beautiful lifetime of memories. On June 8, 2009, Lucy lost her beloved Jess after many years of illness. However, she took comfort in knowing that one day she would be reunited with him in heaven.

Lucy worked for several years at the McDonalds in Galesburg. After retiring, she was able to spend as much time as she wanted with the grandchildren that she loved so much. Her Catholic faith was very important to her. As member of Corpus Christi Church in Galesburg, Lucy participated in the church’s Altar and Rosary Society. Lucy also enjoyed reading, doing crafts, gardening, and even watching sports events with family.

With the most kind, gentle and loving soul, Lucy will be so greatly missed by all those who loved her. For now, we will take comfort in knowing that she will be watching over everyone she loved.

Surviving is her son, Michael (and Cheryl) Nache Sr. of Galesburg, her daughter, Rosemarie (and Larry) Gutierrez of Galesburg, a sister, Rose (and Roger) Stockman of Galesburg, eleven grandchildren, Danielle Gutierrez, Joshua Pierce, Jarrod Pierce, Jade Otten, Michael Nache Jr., James Nache, Hampton Nache, McCall Perry, Blas Nache, Lakee Nache, Nash Nache, 41 great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, two sisters, and a granddaughter, Alexis Marie Gutierrez.
