Inness, Forrest Inness, Jacob (and Delsha) Inness, Noah Inness, and Grace Charlet Inness, four great grandchildren, Izabella Leffler, Beck and Hendrik Johnson, and Palmer Mae Zmijewski, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Marcy was preceded in death by two sisters, Marvis Charlet Terry and Eilene Charlet Kinney, one brother, Laverne Charlet and two brothers-in-law, Robert Inness and George Muck.
After losing her father in a farm accident at age 8, Marcy and her family moved to Kewanee where she and her siblings helped her mother rent out extra rooms, prepared meals and washed laundry for their tenants. She graduated from Kewanee High School in 1954 maintaining lifelong friendships with the Gopher Girls, a group of classmates with whom she gathered consistently through the years to reminisce.
As a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Galesburg, Marcy is lovingly remembered as a Sunday School teacher who nurtured the Lord’s smallest of servants for over 26 years. She was a former member of the Knox County Farm Bureau’s Women’s Committee and a former coordinator of the Shorthorn Cattle Association’s regional youth group, the Shorthorn Lassies. Most recently, Marcy was awarded a 50-year membership pin from Chapter AN, P.E.O., Galesburg.
A devoted farm wife, Marcy delivered meals to the field during fall harvest and spring planting seasons for over 63 years benefitting her husband and sons. Her mother once calculated the cumulative affect of her meal service and equated it to enabling George an additional five years of non-stop work. She took great pride in knowing she contributed to the family farming operation in a significant and impactful way.
Marcy and George celebrated 59 years of marriage before his sudden passing but she carried him in her heart always. The family rejoices in knowing they have been eternally reunited. A gracious wife, mother, grandmother and loyal friend, Marcy Inness embodied faith and love. Her devoted family and friends will miss her dearly.
