Mrs. Marie Allen Obituary

Mrs. Marie Ellen Allen, 71 of rural St. Augustine, passed away at 1:50 p.m. Wednesday, May 26, 2021, at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg.

She was born May 11, 1950 in Peoria, the daughter of Edalo and Esther (Feger) Basile.  She married Larry Logsdon and they divorced.  She later married William R. Allen on April 14, 1979 in Galesburg.  He preceded her in death on June 16, 1994.  She was also preceded in death by her mother.

Marie is survived by two sons, Eric (Shaunna) Allen of rural St. Augustine and Darren Logsdon of the state of Washington; one daughter, Sandy Stovers of the state of Texas; 10 grandchildren; her father, Edalo Basile of Peoria; two step-children, Dustin Allen and Buffy Allen; one sister, Betty Jean Basile; one half-brother, Kenneth Ewalt of Cuba; and one half-sister, Pam Scott of Cuba.

Marie worked at the Admiral/Maytag Factory in Galesburg until it closed.  She then returned to schooling offered to the displaced workers and earned her GED.  She later worked at Wal-Mart in Galesburg.  She loved living on the farm and enjoyed the animals, especially the horses.  She also had a passion for buffaloes.  She enjoyed putting jig-saw puzzles together but mostly, she enjoyed her family.

As she requested, cremation will be accorded.  A time to celebrate her life will be held at a later date.  Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Abingdon Chapel is assisting her family with cremation arrangements.
