Mrs. Marilyn Stambaugh Obituary

Mrs. Marilyn A. Stambaugh, 74, of Galesburg, Illinois passed away at 1:41 am Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital.

Marilyn, was born March 19, 1946 in Galesburg the daughter of Robert and Mary (Figard) Olson. She married James Etzel, she then married Dennis Johnson. Marilyn later married Gary A. Stambaugh on December 29, 1979 in Galesburg. He preceded her in death on August 10, 2009.

Marilyn is survived by her son, Donny (and Denise) Johnson of Galesburg; three daughters, Jane (and Kevin) McGee and Debbi Johnson both of Galesburg and Michelle (and Reggie) Benton of Eldridge, Iowa; her brother, Robert (and Sharon) Olson of Abingdon; her sister, Joan (and Robert) Woodside of Galesburg, twelve grandchildren, Shay Dragoo, Ty Johnson, Kyle McGee, Katie Meeker, Rob Jackson, Joseph Williams, Rene Johnson, Brad Johnson, Brian Johnson, Cinaa Benton, NyRee Benton, and Zzyzx Benton. Seven great grandchildren, Hahlay Elston, DeArion Elston, DeAmiyn Elston and Jackson Smith, Alexander Johnson and Noah Johnson, Berklee Jackson. She is preceded in death by her parents.

Marilyn worked for Admiral/Maytag Corporation for 35 years. She later worked for School District 205 as a cook. She was a member of the Galesburg American Legion Auxiliary Post 285. Marilyn loved sports and especially enjoyed watching any sport involving the Galesburg Silver Streaks. Marilyn was a member of First Church of the Nazarene.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Marilyn’s wishes were to be cremated with a Private Family Memorial Service. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association.
