Mrs. Mary A. (Downard) Brittingham

Mrs. Mary A. Brittingham, 79, of Galesburg, Illinois died Friday, September 9, 2022, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, Illinois.

She was born April 20, 1943, in Galesburg to Chester and Ruby Fern (Teel) Downard.  She married Robert W. Brittingham, June 23, 1963, in Galesburg.  He preceded her in death October 2, 1998.

Surviving are two sons, Larry (and Carla Cates McMikle) Brittingham of Easton, Illinois and Robbie (and Patty) Brittingham of Galesburg, three daughters, Laura (and Marvin) Cleary of Mason City, Pam (and Steve Paszkiet) Nelson of Galesburg, and Julie Bleyaert of Galesburg, a brother, Randy (and Kathy) Downard of Rio, Illinois, five sisters, Donna (and Lloyd) Anderson of Galva, Illinois, Dorothy McMeen of Milan, Illinois, Grace Bates of Lewistown, Illinois, Alice Clark of Galesburg, and Cheryl (and Bob) Yerkey of Alexis, Illinois, a sister-in-law, Barb Downard of Galesburg, ten grandchildren, and several great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Bud Downard and Gary Downard, and three brothers-in-law, Max McMeen, Bill Bates, and Richard Clark.

Mary graduated form Galesburg High School in 1963.  Many people may recognize Mary as a hostess at McDonalds on Henderson St. in Galesburg where she worked for fifteen years.  She attended Gordon Berhrents Senior Center in Galesburg for several years.  She enjoyed playing Bingo especially at the Aledo American Legion.  She was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.  Most of all, she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.  She will be missed by all that knew her. 

Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service Galesburg Chapel.  Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel.  Rev. Darrell Grimm will officiate.  Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg.  Memorials may be made to the family.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
