Mrs. Mary Katherine (Nebergall) Young

Mrs. Mary K. Young, 100, of Galesburg died at 12:10 p.m., Friday, February 7, 2020 at Knox County Nursing Home.

She was born November 3, 1919 in Macomb, Illinois to Beryl and Susie (Clark) Nebergall. Mary married Lionel V. Young on June 10, 1938. He preceded her in death on their 58th wedding anniversary.

Mary is survived by her son Lon (Linda) Young of Galesburg, one grandson Lance (Christy) Young, and many dear nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister Ellen Bellomy, and two brothers Bill Nebergall and George Nebergall.

Mary worked in the cafeteria at Galesburg High School for forty years, retiring in 1999. She was a life-long St. Louis Cardinals fan and a member of Coldbrook Christian Church.

Cremation will be accorded. Memorial graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, February 13, 2020 at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. Pastor Rick Warren will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be donated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Coldbrook Christian Church. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services is assisting the family with final arrangements.
