Mrs. Mary Jane Logsdon, 91, of Galesburg, Illinois died 3:05 p.m. Sunday, July 22, 2018 at Rosewood Care Center, Galesburg.
She was born January 23, 1927 in Monmouth, Illinois, the daughter of Tom and Cozene Swygard Bollman. She married James Ronald Logsdon on May 11, 1947 at the Coldbrook Christian Church, Cameron, Illinois. He preceded her in death December 13, 2008.
Surviving is a daughter, Dee Ann Powless of Diveron, Illinois; two sons, Rev. Dr. Thomas (and Janice) Logsdon of Chatham, Illinois and Dale (and Linda) Logsdon of Waseca, Minnesota; a daughter-in-law, Judy Logsdon of Hutchinson, Kansas, 12 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; a sister, Martha (and Richard) England of Galesburg; a brother, Thomas (and Betty) Bollman of Monmouth and numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews, extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, a son, an infant grandson, a son-in-law, and a sister-in-law.
She was a cook at summer camps, the former Coldbrook School, and Churchill Junior High School in Galesburg. She graduated from Monmouth High School in 1945. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Galesburg. She was active in the United Methodist Women and was a former president to the organization. She was also a member of Patience Circle, Kindness Circle, Church Women United, D.F.D.’s, Sewing Club, and Little John Conservation Club.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, July 26, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church in Galesburg. Rev. Vince Rohn will officiate. Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church.
