Mrs. Pauline G. Shinn, 86, formerly of Abingdon, passed away at 4:41 p.m. Friday, August 7, 2020 at Seminary Manor in Galesburg.
She was born July 19, 1934 in Nichols, Wisconsin, the daughter of Raymond and Alma (Forshee) Carpenter. She married Robert L. “Bob” Shinn on July 28, 1951 in Knoxville. He preceded her in death on December 7, 2019. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her stepfather, Leo Danner, one brother, James Carpenter, one sister, Ramona Carpenter and three stepsisters, Marjorie, Charlotte and Barbara.
Pauline is survived by two sons, John Shinn of Galesburg and Ronald (and Susie) Shinn of Abingdon; grandchildren Merissa (and Tyler) Clark and great- grandson Nolan and great-granddaughter Leilen of Abingdon, Dustin Shinn of Macomb, Michael Parkins of Lewiston, Ricky and Jason Shinn, both of Bloomington, Timmy Shinn of Stamford and Felicia Shinn of Hopedale; one sister, Wilma Carpenter of East Hannibal, Illinois; one brother-in-law, Donald (and Reta) Shinn of Lexington, Kentucky; and many nieces, nephews and their families.
She has lived in Abingdon most of her life and graduated from Abingdon High School in 1952. She worked at and retired from Admiral/Maytag after 38 years of service. In earlier years, Pauline and Bob participated in competitive couple’s roller skating, and enjoyed camping and riding motorcycles.
She enjoyed cooking and baking and always loved spending time with family, especially her grandkids and great-grandkids.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Abingdon Chapel. Pastor Manuel Rojas will officiate. Burial will be in the Abingdon Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel. Due to guidelines associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, face masks will be required, as well as social distancing and attendance limits.
