Mrs. Pearl Ann Calhoun, 84, of Abingdon, Illinois, died at 7:06 p.m. on Friday August 27, 2021, in OSF St. Mary’s Medical Center in Galesburg, Illinois.
Pearl started her journey on October 29, 1936, in Chenoa, Illinois, as daughter of John and Edna (Leona) Mehn. Along the way, she met the love of her life, Charles Calhoun, and married him in 1954. He preceded her in death on July 3, 2003.
She is survived by her three sons, Charles E. Calhoun Jr. of Abingdon, Dale Calhoun of Canton, Illinois, and James Calhoun of Abingdon. She is also survived by her two brothers, Francis (Carole) Mehn of Creve Coeur, Illinois, John Mehn of Abingdon, her three sisters, Margie Clark of Pekin, Mary Lee of Pekin, and Betty Lucas of Peoria, 4 grandchildren, Tania Hile Lewistown, Tabby (Chris) Peak, Kendra Calhoun and Katelyn Calhoun all of Canton and eight great- grandchildren. She is preceded in death by both parents, her husband Charles, one brother and three sisters.
Pearl was raised in Chenoa and moved out to Abingdon in 1954. She became a wonderful homemaker, a devoted mother and loving wife. When Pearl had any free time, she enjoyed working at Salvation Army.
Cremation will be accorded. A visitation will be held Saturday, September 11, 2021 from 1-2 p.m. at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Home Abingdon Chapel. A Funeral Service will follow at 2 p.m. at the chapel. Burial will be in Abingdon Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to a breast cancer foundation.
