Mrs. Rebecca "Becky" S. (Snyder) Lewis

Rebecca “Becky” Sue Snyder Mixon Lewis, 63 of Galesburg, passed away at 6:30 a.m. Saturday, May 9, 2020 at her home.

She was born September 9, 1956 in Galesburg, the daughter of Richard C. and Jacqueline J. (Button) Snyder.  She married Steven R. Mixon on June 6, 1992 in Galesburg.  He preceded her in death on May 9, 1998.  She later married Absalom Lewis on October 16, 1999 in Galesburg.

Becky is survived by her loving husband, Absalom; two daughters from her first marriage, Holly Mixon of Galesburg and Allyssa Mixon of Galesburg; four grandchildren; one step-daughter, Malarie Baker-Lewis of Arlington, Texas and two step-granddaughters; two brothers, Michael (and Jo Ellen) Snyder of rural Abingdon and Patrick Snyder of rural Abingdon; and nieces, nephews and their families.

Becky was also preceded in death by her parents.

She has lived in the Abingdon and Galesburg areas all of her life.  She graduated from Abingdon High School in 1974 and later graduated from Carl Sandburg College with a degree in Computer Science.  She worked at Admiral/Maytag until it closed, at OSF St. Mary Medical Center and at Bridgeway.  She was a hard worker and never turned work down.  She was a member of the Galesburg Parkview Seventh-day Adventist Church and served as church clerk.  Her hobbies included putting puzzles together and watching game shows and Law & Order on TV.  She loved her family and enjoyed all the time spent together.

As she requested, cremation will be accorded. Due to social distancing limitations related to the COVID-19 pandemic, a private memorial service will be held Friday, May 15, 2020 with Pastor John Lewis officiating.
