Mrs. Rhonda Kay Watkins,64, of London Mills, Illinois, passed away Saturday, May 9, 2026, at home.
She was born July 22, 1961, in Galesburg, the daughter of James and Shirley (Engle) Schisler. She married Sammie Watkins on July 10, 1985, in Galesburg.
She is survived by her husband, Sammie; Daughters: Jennifer (and Zack Brown) Watkins, Tracie (and Jared) Yocum, sons:Rob (and Kate) Watkins, Steve (and Erin) Watkins; brothers, Brian Schisler and Mike (and Chris Wells) Schisler; nephew, Ethan, niece, Tatym. Grandchildren, Justin, Joe, Brandon and Sammie. Great-grandchildren, Jack, Clay, Sawyer and Bella. She is preceded in death by her parents, her father- in- law, Junier B. Watkins, her mother- in- law, Lena M. Watkins and her stepfather, Gary Sundell.
Rhonda graduated from Abingdon High School in 1980. She was a farm wife and worked alongside her husband, Sam. Rhonda had the biggest and kindest heart. She was always willing to help anyone and loved her family deeply. She enjoyed gardening, shopping, going on the scenic drive and holidays were very special to her. Some of the things she loved the most was spending time with her daughter Jennifer, watching her niece Tatym, spending time with her dogs and beloved husband Sam and watching the grandkids grow. For many years she enjoyed camping with Sam, where they met many new friends.
She will be greatly missed and forever in our daily thoughts.
A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at Abingdon Cemetery with Chaplain Jordan Knight officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. prior to service at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Home and Cremation Services Abingdon Chapel.
