Rose M. Tippett, 76, of rural Monmouth, died at 10:34 a.m. Tuesday, May 12, 2020, in OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, surrounded by family and their love.
She was born June 22, 1943, in Roseville, the daughter of Earl L. and Jeraldine L. (Smith) Ross Sr. She married Kendall L. Tippett on June 4, 1961, in Monmouth.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 59 years, Kendall; three sons, Rodney (Todd Ettinger) Tippett of Galesburg, Robert (Kayla) Tippett of Monmouth, and James Tippett of Chicago; two grandchildren, Nathan Tippett and Jenna Tippett, both of Monmouth; two sisters, Martha (Jerry) Brock and Mary (Clayton) Dean, both of Monmouth; four brothers, Danny Ross and Terry Ross, both of Monmouth, Michael (Jody) Ross of Galesburg, and Russell (Theresa) Ross of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Earl Ross Jr., Ronnie Ross, and Gary Ross; and an infant sister, Joanne Ross.
Rose was raised and educated in Monmouth, where she graduated from Monmouth High School in 1961. Rose was a dedicated homemaker, raising her three boys, active in their school events, all while managing the books of the family farm and sawmill. Rose was well known for her cheerful nature to customers throughout Warren and Henderson Counties. Since 1986 she also was bookkeeper at Jet-Air at the Galesburg Airport, once again bringing joy and smiles to her fellow coworkers, customers, and clients. Rose loved baking, quilting, gardening, and her pets. She also loved and treated her many nieces and nephews as her own and especially enjoyed doting on her grandchildren, Nathan and Jenna.
An open visitation will be 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 17, 2020, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel. Due to social distancing limitations related to the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be no physical interaction with the family. Private family graveside service will be Monday, May 18, 2020, in Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery in Monmouth.
