Mrs. Sharon “Norma Dean” Brown, 89, of Galesburg passed away at 6:19 AM October 5, 2020 at the Richard Owens Hospice House in Peoria.
Sharon was born on February 22, 1931 to Nelson B. and Pauline (Bounds) Murray in Hannibal, Missouri. She married David J. “Jim” Brown on June 28, 1947 in Galesburg. He preceded her in death on October 27, 2003.
She is survived by her sons, Steven (Nancy) Brown of Galesburg, Richard (Tammie) Brown of Dahinda, and Jim Brown of Galesburg, and her daughter Lelica (Gordon) Carlson of Galesburg, her grandchildren, Stephanie Brown, Brian (Kim) Fry, Nicole Cunningham, Richard (Liz) Brown, Erica (Pat) Bleffer, Patrik Carlson, and Danielle (Andrew) Carlson and seventeen great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, her son David Brown, Jr. in 1953, and two brothers Nelson and Harry Murray.
Sharon graduated from Hannibal High School, and proceeded to further her education into nursing later graduating through Blessing Hospital Nursing School. She worked as a nurse at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, retiring in 2011. Sharon had a love of meeting people and caring for people in their time of need.
Sharon had a love of gardening and could usually be found in her flower gardens. She enjoyed antiquing and restoring old furniture as well. Sharon was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and the Ladies of Mary.
Sharon’s family would like to thank the OSF Hospice and the Galesburg Fire Department for their care and assistance.
Private family services will be held at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel on October 9, 2020, with Deacon Michael Crummer will officiate.
