Mrs. Shirley L. (Sayrs) Allensworth

Mrs. Shirley L. Allensworth, 69, of Kewanee, Illinois, went home to heaven at 6:55 p.m. Saturday, November 19, 2022, at Marigold Health Care Center, Galesburg, Illinois.

Shirley was born in Galesburg, on July 29, 1953, to Robert and Mary Sayrs. Shirley attended Galesburg High School. She worked for Illinois Mentor and her children’s school in the cafeteria and art program. She enjoyed spending time with her family, the Christmas season, and was an avid bowler for many years. Shirley was a bright spot in so many people’s lives and loved by all who met her.

She is survived by four sons, Michael Allensworth, Lansing, Michigan, Christopher Cosenza, Grandview, Iowa, Joshua Allensworth, Kewanee, Illinois, Paul Allensworth, Kewanee, and two daughters, Tricia Allensworth, Kewanee and Cailee Allensworth, Kewanee. She had two grandkids who she loved spoiling and spending time with. She is also survived by two nieces Bobette (Charles) DiMaria, Lake St. Louis, Missouri, and Christina (Greg) Mueller, Beaverton, Oregon, numerous great-nieces and great-nephews, and several very close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Mary (Harmon) Sayrs, her sister, Patricia (Sayrs) Waugh, and two brothers, Delbert Perkins and Corky Perkins. 

Shirley was loved by her children and always available with a listening ear and ready to talk about anything. She will be remembered for her laugh, smile, and the ways in which she made so many feel loved.

Cremation will be accorded. A private family memorial will take place at a later date.  Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service Galesburg Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
