Mrs. Sue E. "Sue Bee" (McMaster) Myers

Mrs. Sue E. “Sue Bee” Myers, 72, of Galesburg, Illinois, formerly of Melrose, Iowa died 3:58 p.m. Thursday, August 31, 2023, at the Knox County Nursing Home, Knoxville, Illinois. 

She was born March 15, 1951, in Peoria, Illinois to Clarence D. and Harriet A. (Leighton) McMaster.  She married Robert L. Myers on December 14, 1991, in Galesburg.  He preceded her in death January 17, 2022. 

Surviving are two sons, Eric (and Cindy) Benson of Galesburg and Kyle (and JoAnn) Benson of Scranton, North Carolina, a stepdaughter, Shelley Frye of Iowa, a brother Jay R. McMaster of Galesburg, a stepbrother, Jim Wilson of Michigan, eleven grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her mother and father, her stepmother Mary McMaster, an infant brother, Fred McMaster, two stepbrothers, Bill Wilson and Dean Wilson, a sister-in-law, Angie Hinkle, and a great grandchild, Rayna Serpa. 

Sue graduated from Yates City High School in 1969.  She was a homemaker for her husband and a loving mother to her two boys.  She was an avid scrapbooker and was a member of a scrapbooking club in Chariton, Iowa.  She had a love for collecting anything bee related, craft supplies as well as making anything crafty for and with others. She loved to play board games and card games with anyone who was willing, often spending late nights with her grandchildren playing.  She cherished her grandchildren and great grands.  She loved to travel to see her family and friends and all the sites around.  She loved life to the fullest, never met a stranger, and always had a smile for everyone.

As Sue requested, cremation will be accorded.  A celebration of life will be 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Thursday, September 7, 2023, at the Kensington Ballroom, 311 E.
