Mrs. Susan I. (Holt) Zeitler

Susan I. Zeitler, 71, of Chelsea, Alabama, formerly of Moline, Illinois, died at 7:31 p.m. Friday, November 11, 2022, in UAB Hospital, Birmingham, Alabama.

She was born November 16, 1950, in Galesburg, Illinois, the daughter of Dwight and Blanche (Masterson) Holt.  She married Robert Fox in 1977.  She later married Larry D. Zeitler on December 27, 2001, in Moline.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 21 years, Larry; two children, Michael Fox of Birmingham and Heather (Chris) VandeVoorde of Chelsea; two grandchildren, Isabel and Lily; step-children, Eric (Sherry) Zeitler of Boise, Idaho, Tara (Scott) Hinton of Geneseo, Illinois, Erin (Jennifer) Zeitler of O’Fallon, Illinois, and Tori (Paul) Eden of Dayton, Ohio; 11 step-grandchildren; and siblings, Joanne Bitner of Canton, Illinois, Carole Haerle of Canton, and David (Pat) Holt of Rio, Illinois.  She was preceded in death by her parents and a step-son, Todd Zeitler.

Susan worked for John Deere for many years.  Prior to her retirement in 2003, she was in charge of mailroom operations at the Milan Distributions Center.  She was an avid gardener, enjoying her flowers and shrubs and her many indoor plants.  Susan will be remembered as a thoughtful person who enjoyed sending cards to the special people in her life.

Visitation will be 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services of Galesburg.  Funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with Rev. Jim Epperson officiating.  Burial will be in the Ontario Cemetery, rural Oneida, Illinois.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.  Online condolences for the family may be left on the funeral home’s website at www.h-p-w.com.
