Tammy S. Hempfing, 54, of Galesburg, died at 4:35 p.m. Tuesday, January 19, 2021, in OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, after a brief illness.
She was born May 10, 1966, in Kankakee. She was the daughter of George E. and Beverly Jean (Swanson) Hempfing.
She is survived by her husband of over 30 years, John King; children, Jasmine (Joshua) Clark of Galesburg, Justin Hempfing-King of Galesburg, Micheal Shelton of Galesburg, and Joshua Shelton of Phoenix, Arizona; grandchildren, Aaliegha Thornburg, Kairi Clark, Jackie Clark, and Alvin Shelton; a brother, Tommy French; and a sister, Penny Isaacs. Her parents preceded her in death.
Tammy was a homemaker. She had worked briefly in janitorial services at the former Cottonwood Nursing Home. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene. Tammy was a collector, mainly of china dolls and unicorns. She also enjoyed playing traveling.
Cremation will be accorded. No visitation or service is planned at this time. Memorial contributions may be made to the family to help with final expenses.
