Virginia F. Rinehart, 86, of Galesburg, died at 2:34 p.m. Friday, November 13, 2020, in Seminary Manor due to complications of a recent COVID-19 infection.
She was born July 24, 1934, in Monmouth, the daughter of Howard and Emma (Melton) Hall. She married William T. “Bill” Rinehart on March 7, 1953, in Galesburg. He preceded her in death on May 1, 1999.
She is survived by four children, Karen Miller of Arvada, Colorado, Kay (Bruce) Tracy of Rio, Kathy (John) Polillo of Galesburg, and Bill C. Rinehart of Galesburg; 14 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; a niece and several nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Mary Standley and Lorece Arnett.
Virginia graduated from Galesburg High School in 1952. She was a devoted homemaker and mother, raising and caring for her family. She was a member of the former East Main Congregational United Church of Christ and its women’s circle. The family were charter members of Little John Conservation Club in Victoria. Virginia enjoyed flower gardening, bird watching, camping, playing Canasta, and traveling with friends and family. While Bill was still living, they enjoyed several winters in Texas. She was active with the Senior Circle at Cottage for many years. Virginia was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. She will be remembered for her friendly smile, upbeat personality, and her loving and caring spirit.
Private family graveside service will be Thursday, November 19, 2020, in Rio Baptist Cemetery. Rev. Mary Runge will officiate. There will be no visitation.
