Ms. Donna J Damitz

Ms. Donna J. Damitz, 64, of Galesburg, Illinois, passed away peacefully Sunday April 11, 2021 at 5:56 p.m. in her home surrounded by her family.

She was born February 24, 1957 in Galesburg, daughter to Donald W. and Maxine G. (Harbac) Damitz.

Surviving is her son, Chris (and Samantha) Damitz of Galesburg; her two brothers, Dennis (and Dianna) Higgins of Oquawka, Darryl (and Jean) Damitz of Colona; three grandchildren, Hailey, Christopher Jr., and Cierra Jo Damitz, and her best friend/dog Riddick. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Bill Damitz and sister Mary Christianson.

Donna attended Galesburg High School and later received her GED. She went to Carl Sandburg College and received an Associate’s Degree in computer programming, which she was very proud of. She became a Security Guard at Carl Sandburg College and retired after 15 years. Donna was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church in Galesburg and helped by volunteering as a Sunday School Teacher. Donna loved spending time with family, whether it was playing cards with her grandkids, riding motorcycles with her brothers, or spending time with her dog Riddick, whom she loved dearly. Donna also enjoyed playing bass guitar in a band and gardening during her free time.

Visitation will be 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 16, 2021, Funeral Services will follow at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel. Burial will be in Holeman-Olive Cemetery, Avon.  Due to guidelines associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, social distancing and facemasks will be required.  Pastor Greg Bartlett will officiate.
