Ms. Gwendolyn L. (Mather) Hunold

Gwendolyn L. Hunold, 78, of Galesburg, died at 3:45 a.m. Friday, March 8, 2019, at home.

She was born November 10, 1940, in Galesburg, the daughter of Harold C. and Vivian R. (Buckley) Mather.  She married Gene Rude and they divorced in 1977. She later married Kevin Cahill and they later were divorced. She then married Bill Hunold in in Hillsborough, Florida; they were later divorced.

She is survived by a daughter, Cara (Todd) Frakes of Galesburg; four grandchildren, Michael (Alexis) Frakes of Galesburg, Nikki (Josh) Chase of Peru, Illinois, Victoria (Cory) Meador of Oneida, and Joey Hathaway of Wataga; nine great grandchildren; and a sister, Gloria Yanko of Phoenix, Arizona.  She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, who was stillborn.

Gwendolyn was raised and educated in Knoxville, graduating from Knoxville High School.  She attended and graduated from the Burlington Cosmetology School.  Gwendolyn was a self-employed hairdresser, owning her own shop for 20 years.  She also worked as a private duty caregiver while living in Tampa.  She retired in 2007 and moved back to Galesburg.

Gwendolyn was of Christian faith.  She loved animals, especially her beloved dog, Poncho.

Cremation will be accorded.  The family will host a celebration of life at a later date.  Memorial contributions may be made to the family.  Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel is handling cremation arrangements for the family.
