Ms. Janet A. (Gibbs) Scott

Ms. Janet A. Scott, 76, of Galesburg, Illinois died 6:45 p.m. Saturday, January 8, 2022 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, Illinois.

She was born June 26, 1945 in Burlington, Iowa to Warren and Ruth (Smith) Gibbs. 

Surviving is her companion of 42 years, Donald M. Johnson of Galesburg, a son, Kevin (and Robyn) Steward of Burlington, a daughter, Tammy Steward of Burlington, a brother, Steven Gibbs of Placentia, California, two sisters, Carol Parker of Rushville, Illinois and Lynda Mettler of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas, a sister in law, Barbara Gibbs of Burlington, two grandchildren, Katrina Steward of Burlington and Randi Sacora of Blanchard, Oklahoma, and three great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, David Gibbs, and two brothers in law, Robert Parker and Harold Mettler. 

Janet graduated from Burlington High School in 1963 and moved to Galesburg in 1982.  She worked as a bartender for Mac’s Place for 24 years and later for the Moose Lodge in Galesburg.  She was of the Methodist faith. 

As Janet requested, cremation will be accorded.  No service is scheduled.  Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service Galesburg Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
