Mrs. Kathryn A. Agar, 84, of Galesburg died Sunday, January 26, 2020 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center.
Kathryn was born March 21, 1935 in Buenos Aires, Argentina to Mr. Basil W. and Elsie (Browning) Berg. She married Woodbury S. Agar June 16, 1956 in East Moline. They later divorced.
She is survived by her children William “Bill” D. (Lori) Agar of Las Vegas, Nevada and Elizabeth “Betty” A. (Jeff) Hartwick of Taylor Ridge, Illinois; four grandchildren Ryan (Angie) Agar, Bradley Curry, Sara (Dave) Bruff, and Kyle Hartwick; and two great granddaughters Abigail and Evelyn. Also surviving are two nieces Paula Osborne and Kathy Drewry
She is preceded in death by her parents, one sister Connie Drewry, and one son David S. Agar on January 31, 1979.
Kathryn was a graduate of East Moline High School, Class of 1953. She moved to Galesburg in 1956 and briefly attended Knox College. Kathryn worked at Knox Country Courthouse as a Deputy Clerk for 16 years, retiring in 2003. In her spare time she enjoyed solving jigsaw puzzles, reading and volunteering with special needs children.
Cremation will be accorded. A private family graveside will be held at a later date at Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be donated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Kathryn’s honor. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services is assisting the family with final arrangements.
