Nina Brock

97, a resident of the Care Center of Abingdon, died at 5:40 am Wednesday, March 5, 2003 at the Care Center. She was born March 8, 1905 in Lamoni, Iowa to S. Elvert and Grace A.E. Stanley Shippy. She married Glenn W. Brock on June 8, 1929 in Phoenix, AZ. He preceded her in death on February 17, 1969. Surviving are two daughters, Roberta (and George) West of RR Abingdon and Frances (and Don) Thurman of Abingdon; four sons, Joe (and Betsy) Brock of RR Abingdon, Harvey (and Bernice) Brock of Viola, Bill (and Ann) Brock of Denton, TX., Melvin (and Sharon) Brock of Harviell, MO.; 23 grandchildren, 53 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren; a brother, Bill Weeble of Seattle WA.; two sisters, Loretta Yandell of Seattle, WA. And Flossie Reimer of Houston, TX. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one son, Cecil Brock, three brothers, one sister. She was a homemaker and had lived in the Abingdon area since 1947. She was of the Christian Science Faith. Graveside service will be at 11 am Friday at Linwood Cemetery in Galesburg with Eleanor Landon officiating. There will be no visitation. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel in Abingdon in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to Community Hospices of America.
