58, of 108 Brookview Court died at 3:45 pm Thursday, January 27, 2005 at the Care Center of Abingdon. He was born on July 31, 1946 in Moline to Emery Russell and Dorothy Emma Young Garrett. He married Mary Catherine "Cathy" Hasselbacher on July 17, 1966 in Brimfield. He later married Amy Lou Pumfrey on August 26, 1978. She survives. Also surviving are two daughters from his first marriage, Michelle Garrett of Columbus, OH and Dawn (and Jonathan) Perry of Normal; a son from his second marriage, Andrew Garrett of Abingdon; two brothers, Rodney (and Sharon) Garrett of Streator and Alan (and Marlene) Garrett of Cherry Hills; 2 grandchildren, Shannon Perry & Spencer Perry. He graduated from Winola High School in 1964. He worked at the Maytag Corp. in Galesburg for 32 ½ years retiring on March 31, 2002. He later worked as an attendant at the Southard's Car Wash in Abingdon. He was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association chapter 350, Academy of Model Aeronautics, League of Silent Flight, Eastern Iowa Soaring Society, Western Illinois Soaring Society and the National Soaring Society. Cremation will be accorded. Friends may call from 10:00 am until 11:30 am on Saturday, February 5, 2005 pm at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel in Abingdon followed by a prayer service at 11:30 am. A Graveside Committal service will be held at 2:00 pm at the Hopewell Cemetery near New Windsor. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Community Hospices of America.
