Norma Tootie Severns Button

87, a resident of the Care Center of Abingdon, died at 7:40 am Sunday, December 11, 2005 at the Care Center. She was born January 2, 1918 in Abingdon to Clyde and Jane Courson Kilpatrick. She married Cline Severns on May 8, 1937 in Galesburg. He preceded her in death on December 25, 1968. She later married Donald Button on November 10, 1985 in Monmouth. He preceded her in death on October 8, 2005. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two infant children, two daughters, Donna Severns and Janet Miller, and a son, Rodney Severns, two sisters and four brothers. Surviving are two sons, Jerry (and Connie)Severns and Kenneth (and Katy) Severns all of Abingdon; three daughters, Joyce VanSkike of Abingdon, Deborah Watkins of the Atlanta, Georgia area and Cathy (and Rev. Ken) Klein of Marquette Heights; a stepson, Dick (Mary Frances) Severns of Avon; 25 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren. She had lived in Abingdon all her life. She was a homemaker and had worked at the former Holiday Inn Hotel in Galesburg and as a nurse aide at the Abingdon Nursing Home. Services will be at 11:00 am Wednesday at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel. Rev. Raymond McLaren will officiate. Burial will be in the Abingdon Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before the service on Wednesday at the chapel. Memorials may be made to Care Center of Abingdon Resident Activity Fund. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
