Patricia A. Wolford Dunlap

Patricia "Pat" A. Dunlap, 80, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 14, 2008. She was born June 15, 1928 in Knox County to Stanley and Alice (Tolley) Wolford. Pat grew up in Abingdon and graduated from Abingdon High School in 1946. She later earned her degree in Home Economics at Monmouth College in 1950. She married the love of her life and best friend, Harold Guy Dunlap on July 30, 1950 at the Abingdon Methodist Church. She and Harold raised their five children on a farm near Abingdon. Pat taught at Abingdon Hedding Grade School for 22 years. She was a member of the P.E.O. and D.A.R. and taught Child Evangelism in the earlier years of her married life. She enjoyed flowers, songbirds, nature and everything about farm life. She was a devoted wife and loving mother. Her love for the Lord, music and wonderful sense of humor is a legacy she left her family to cherish. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Harold Dunlap; son, Raymond Dunlap (Jil) of Abingdon; daughters, Kathy Shultz (Dave) of Springfield, Il, Karen Allen (Charles) of Fuquay Varina, NC, Karel Dunlap of Springfield, IL, Kristi Lillie (Dave) of Abingdon, IL; nine grandchildren, Brett Dunlap, Kari (Dunlap) Beers, Kali Dunlap, D.J. Shultz, Kyle Shultz, Matt Freckleton, Jeremy Freckleton, Jason Lillie, Josh Lillie; thirteen great-grandchildren. A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 18, 2008 at Abingdon Methodist Church. Burial will follow at the Abingdon Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 pm, Wednesday, December 17 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel. Memorials may be made in Pat's memory to Marion Missions Storehouse, P.O.
