Patricia Jane Smith, 85, of Galesburg, Illinois passed away at 7:30 pm Sunday, October 5, 2025, at Allure of Lake Storey.
Pat was born on March 11, 1940, in Galesburg, the daughter of George H. and Jane A. (Billings) Sage. She married Jerry L. Smith; he preceded her in death in 1996.
She is survived by her daughter and three sons, Michael (Lori) Smith of Morton, Illinois, Pamela (Randy) Sydney of Delavan, Illinois, Christopher J. (Donna) Smith of Nixa, Missouri and Scott (Zheila) Smith of Reno, Nevada and five grandchildren, Talena, Hillary, Colin, Abigail and Gavin.
Pat graduated from Galesburg High School in 1958. She attended Illinois Community College and later graduated from Illinois State University with a degree in art education. Pat worked as a teacher at Midwest Central Illinois, retiring in 2005. She attended the Galesburg Lutheran churches and considered herself an active member within the churches. She also volunteered her time assisting at any luncheons or dinners that the churches host. Pat was also heavily involved with the Catholic Chrysalis prayer group. She volunteered with WING (Western Illinois Nature Group) and the Lutheran World Relief.
Pat’s wishes were to be cremated. A Memorial Service is scheduled for 10:00 am, Saturday, October 18, 2025 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel. Chaplain Jordan Knight will officiate. Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made in her name to WING. Online condolences may be offered at www.h-p-w.com
