67 of Galesburg and formerly of Abingdon, died at 3:33 am Wednesday, March 8, 2006 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital. He was born on February 14, 1939 in Abingdon to Virgil L. and Gladys I. Powell Skinner. He married Joyce M. Anderson on June 15, 1958 in Berwick. She survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Jill (and Scott) Seiberlich of Galesburg; four grandchildren, Lindsay, Jacob, Joshua and Justin Seiberlich; a sister, Mary (and Robert) Tatman of Monmouth, IL; three brothers, Lawrence J. (and Dorothy) Skinner of Davenport, WA, Marvin L. (and Dorothy) Skinner of Abingdon and Gene I. (and Lynne) Skinner of Knoxville; several nieces and nephews; two aunts, Doris Clampitt and Nydia Morris both of Abingdon. He was preceded in death by his parents, two infant daughters, Penny Lynn Skinner and Stacey Jo Leen Skinner, a sister, Ruby I. Steele and a brother, Kenneth L. Skinner a POW in North Korea. He served in the US Air Force from January of 1957 until January of 1963. He also served in the US Army from March of 1963 until March of 1966. He had lived most of his life in Abingdon and moved to Galesburg in 2000. He was a licensed plumber working for Union Local #25 in Rock Island, IL, retiring in 1994. He attended the Bethany Baptist Church in Galesburg. He loved fishing with his grandchildren and enjoyed woodworking, remodeling houses, going to auctions and collecting antiques. Funeral service will be at 10:30 am Saturday, March 11, 2006 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel. Rev. John Carlson will officiate. Burial will be in Abingdon Cemetery where military rites will be conducted by Harry E. Wiles American Legion Post #381. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Friday at the chapel. Memorials may be made to Bethany Baptist Church, 590 S. Academy St. Galesburg, IL 61401.
