Rachelle Diane Shafer

Rachelle Diane Shafer, of Galesburg, passed unexpectedly at the young age of 33 on Monday, May 9, 2022, at home.

She was born September 25, 1988, St. Paul, Minnesota, the daughter of Diane Marie Shafer and Steven Ritter.

She is survived by her life partner, Terrence Johnson; children, Terryn Marie Robyn Johnson (11) and Tristyn James Terrence Johnson (4); her mother, Diane Ohmann (Thomas Hasselbacher); her father, Steven Ritter; brother, Jason (Tracy) Ohmann; sister, Katrina (Seth) Thai; several nieces and nephews, Sean, Tiana, Lorenzo, Melyna, Laney, Maddox, Isla, Mikey, and Allison; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Rachelle enjoyed cooking and attending classes at Carl Sandburg College to pursue her culinary degree.  Rachelle loved being a mom and taking care of her family.  Her children were her world and as Rachelle would say “they complete me.”  Rachelle enjoyed sharing her artistic talents with her daughter Terryn often creating paintings and drawings together.  Frequently Rachelle would change her hairstyle which was one way she enjoyed expressing herself.  Often, she would walk to the park with her son Tristyn, it was their favorite thing to do together.  Rachelle’s proudest moment in life was when she became a mom.  Rachelle wore her heart on her sleeve and marched to the beat of her own drum.  Rachelle was one of a kind and she will be missed dearly and forever live on in our hearts.

Visitation will be 1 to 2 p.m. Monday, May 16, 2022 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services of Galesburg.  Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday, May 16, 2022 at the chapel.  Burial will follow in East Linwood Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to the family to assist with final expenses and needs of the children.  Online condolences for the family may be left on the funeral home’s website at www.h-p-w.com.
