81, 708 W. North St., died at 5:50 pm Sunday, December 7, 2003 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center E.R.. He was born on March 19, 1922 in Seymour, Iowa to Charles W. and Helen Stoffer Fey. He married Betty Dawdy on July 18, 1942 in Palmyra, MO. She survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Carolyn (and Richard) Tucker of Rushville, IL and Jane (and Jim) Lee of Abingdon; a daughter-in-law, Linda Fey (and Harold) Smith of Abingdon; 6 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren; two brothers, Bernard (and Eileen) Fey of Abingdon and Robert (and Carol) Fey of Mt. Prospect; two sisters, Eileen (and Roy) Adkins of Lehigh Acres, FL and Louise Metcalf of Quincy; one brother-in-law, David Hull of Viola, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Sidney C. Fey Sr. and one sister, Marjorie Hull. He graduated from Yates City High School in 1940. He had lived in Abingdon since 1940. He served in the Army during WW II. He was a supervisor at Intra-state Telephone Company and Sprint Telephone Companies in Galesburg for 35 years retiring in 1978. He was a member of the Abingdon United Methodist Church and had served as Sunday School Superintendent and was a former member of the church board. He was a past member of the John Mosser Public Library board, was a past member of the Abingdon School District Board of Education where he served as secretary of the board, and was a former alderman for the Abingdon City Council. Funeral service will be at 1:30 pm Friday, December 12, 2003 at the Abingdon United Methodist Church with the Rev. Paul D. Dinges officiating. Burial will be in the Abingdon Cemetery where military rites will also be conducted by Harry E. Wiles American Legion Post #381. Friends may call from 5:00 é
